...ng. The pulsing comes from the swift opening and closing of the valves, they can cycle up to 15 times a second. When this happens to some people they think there is something wrong with the breaks. There are three different types of anti-lock breaks. Four channel are a four sensor abs. THE controller monitors each wheel individually. Three channel are three sensor abs equipped with a speed sensor and a valve both of the front wheels, with one valve and one sensor in the rear axle for both rear wheels. This system is mostly found in pick-up trucks. This system provides individual control of the front wheels. This is so you can get maximum breaking force. However on the back wheels are monitored together. They both have to start to lock up before the Abs will activate on the rear. With this system it is possible that one of the back wheels will lock up. The last type of anti lock breaks is the one channel. They use one valve to control both rear wheels, and on speed sensor in the rear axle. This system is about the same as the rear end of the three-channel system. The rear wheels are monitored together and they both have to start to lock before the Abs will start to work. There is also a possibility that one of the rear wheels will lock up reducing the break effectiveness. Usually there will be one brake line going through a T-fitting to both rear wheels.
