A mother who is Pro-Choice might say, “The fetus is not a human, just a mass of tissue “or “A woman should be able to control her own body.” Rapes are common in these times and it is not unheard of for the female to have what is called the “Morning-After Pill” (which kills the zygote before it reaches the stages of becoming the fetus) or they go to their local abortion clinic. Abortion nowadays has become relatively safe if sought after early in the pregnancy. The earlier you get to a clinic, the cheaper and least jeopardizing it becomes. There is a technique which was used in the late 70’s and early 80’s called saline amniocentesis, or salt poisoning abortions. The procedure starts when the surgeon inserts a large needle through the abdominal wall of the mother and into the baby’s amniotic sac. A concentrated salt solution is injected into the amniotic fluid. The baby breathes and swallows it, is poisoned, struggles, and sometimes convulses. It takes over an hour to kill the baby. When successful, the mother goes into labor about one day later and delivers a dead baby. This is not the only way abortions are practiced today, but it is one of the surgeries a mother can choose. Opposed to being “Pro-Choice” there is “Pro-Life”. These are the mothers and other supporters who believe having abortions is ethically wrong and would rather see Adoption as the better alternative. They say that they believe rape and incest are horrible crimes and should be punished, but don't believe that a child conceived from either should be killed.
