...laws. 46 million abortions are performed a year worldwide. By the time I finish this sentence, 14 abortions will have taken place. When does life begin? There have been ongoing debates as to when life begins. It has been argued that a child is not a human being until after the first trimester of pregnancy, but Science has clearly shown us that the fetus gains human life at conception. Not after. Most abortions occur in the first trimester, which is the first three months. By this time, like you and I, the baby has a brain, lungs, kidneys. It has eyes, ears, and a mouth. It has facial features and distinct fingers and toes. It can move, and kick and wave its arms. And then it's killed. It wasn't a ball of cells. It wasn't an undefined lump. It was a baby. It was a baby that was well on its way to become a person. And who knows what this baby could've become: an Albert Einstein, a Lucille Ball, a Ghandi. The possibilities are endless. Life deserves a chance. How can abortion be justified? How do we justify killing a human being because it didn't have a name? How do we justify killing a human being just because it can fit in the palm of your hand? How do we justify killing a human being and playing God? The answer is simple. We cannot. It is murder. It is murder as much as picking up a gun and shooting someone. It is murder as much as stabbing someone with a knife. It is murder, and cold-blooded pre-meditated murder at that. And it's legal...
