This displayed the lack of freedom for the women. The duty of the men was to work while the women stayed home and took care of the family. She became a political hostess to her husband and supported her husband in Declaration of Independence. She opposed slavery and believed in equal distribution of education among the males and females. As a result, she made sure that her daughter received proper education at home. In the twentieth century, the lives of First Lady is different. Unlike Abigail Adams, Hillary Rodham Clinton was a college graduate with a degree from Yale University in law before she was known as the First Lady. Education did not lack from Hillary Clinton because the issue has been solved mainly because Abigail Adams and other First Lady in the early years was concerned with the issue. She had strong concern for protecting the interest of children and families. Along with her talents, she takes well care of her daughter Chelsie Clinton and her husband, Bill Clinton like Abigail Adams. The education is extremely important to Hillary and she has helped her daughter comprehend the importance of education. Hillary has written many books about her experience as a First Lady and her opinions on different issues. Hillary's books perhaps are not as historical as Abigail Adam’s writing. That is, the time when Abigail was the First Lady, the history of America has just begun. Her writings are well kept because it helped historians analyze the American history in the early centuries. In the 20th Century, first lady worked as professionals. Hillary Clinton worked as a full-time law partner of a law firm, chaired an education committee that set public standards while her husband was the Senator of Arkansas.
