A Thanksgiving to Remember
... house was build on a hill and there were 4 flights of steps that you would have to climb before entering. I didn’t remember those steps when we arrived because I was so excited to be there. My grandma enjoyed cooking the Thanksgiving feast for her family. My mom had two brothers who were married with children who spent the day there as well. My family consisted of my Mom and Dad and my 3 brothers and 2 sisters. We were like the Brady Bunch. From my Uncle Lou’s family there were he and my Aunt Ellia, and their 2 children. And finally, Uncle Tom’s family consisted of he and my Aunt Rosemary and their 5 daughters. My grandma was very excited to have her whole family over for the holiday. My family was first to arrive, so I decided to go and watch for the others to appear. I knew the perfect place to go and spy on them, grandma’s attic. I entered the upstairs’ bedroom where the attic entrance was located. There was a little door about 3 feet high and 2 feet wide that led to the passageway to the attic. I opened the door and climbed up the steep narrow steps until I reached the top. I loved climbing over all of the boxes, which contained old but interesting things. I snaked my way through some of the boxes and over others until I reached the small window, which overlooked the front of the house. I perched myself on top of a box and sat looking out the window, anticipating the arrival of the guest. It was while I was waiting there at the window, when something happened that made that Thanksgiving Day one to remember.
