...s at the United States generally, I see a vast and rich country full of freedom and happiness; but, if we look carefully and deeply we might find there are still a lot of children who live in poverty. According to swift, in order to reduce the poverty in the United States, and to solve the problems that we would have to begin breeding children for food and eating children would be a good solution. As a result, it would greatly reduce the number of poverty stricken people, especially children; it would give those same people income when they sold their children; the nation as a whole will have more money because of this new income; there would be more food for everyone; people would save a lot of money by not having to support their children after the first year of birth; and finally, it would help out marriages since there would be less stress on the parents. These theories are stated and supported throughout Swift's essay. In fact, as we all know that a high percentage of poverty will increase the percentage of crime, because when people are extremely poor, they will do anything in order to survival in the world. Certainly, when there are less poor people in United States, and then there will be less crime existed. If the United States government adopted Jonathan Swift¡¯s proposal, which whenever a child is born and raised for about a year, he would be sold and made into some type of food or apparel. Thus, it will reduce some kind of potential murder, thief or other potential criminals before they get a chance to do harm to the country. The proposals that are made are very sensible and will help the country as a whole. In the time that Swift wrote this proposal, there probably do no have taxes that were given to aid in the feeding and supplying of shelter for the poor. The poor were left to fend for themselves; to become beggars. Times have changed drastically. Now, everyone pays taxes and a percentage of that is given ...
