In order to get the job, one must pass a written test, be at least a high school graduate, and have some work experience. The employment rate in law enforcement is expected to increase faster than the average for all other occupations through year 2010. The reason for this is because people are concerned about crime. Attraction to police work is great because it is a challenging job. People with college training in police science or those with military experience would more than likely have the best chances for a job as a police officer. In my personal interview, I found out some unique information about an occupation as a police officer. I found out that an officer must retest certain things, The must retest firearms twice a year, driving once a year, in-service defense tactics, and D.C.I.’s, or Division fo Criminal Information. There are always opportunities for advancement, but not many opportunities for retirement. About three people retire, quit, or are fired in a year. A job as a police officer can be very complex and difficult, but yet rewarding at the same time. It makes a person feel good when they have done away with someone or something that would cause harm to the communities. Police Officers are very important to the communities in which they serve.
