After this meeting and depending on it’s outcome the principal should have then arrange a meeting with the parents and the department head to present this proposal to the parents. Even then a definite decision on the actual change would not be made until more information is gathered concerning the curriculum change. I would at first only meet with the parents of the age group that this change will pertain to (so that there is not an overwhelming group of people to answer questions from). At the parent meeting, the concern for the female students at the school needs to be the focus of the discussion with the parents. Facts that support homogenous grouping can then be presented (statistics from other schools following the same model, testing results etc.) Suggestions from the parents and voiced concerns will be welcomed.
