The teacher would emphasize any “G” words that she used while talking to the students. She also had them look and say the name of the pictures that didn’t belong to the pile. Next, the teacher gave each of the students’ two words to read. The students had difficulty reading the words but the teacher helped them in sounding out the words. Once they could read all the words, the teacher put all the words together and had students find two words that were exactly the same and opposite words. Then she gave them a book and they did choral reading. It was a very short book with a lot of word repetition but they were able to read it because they already knew all the words. They were the same words they just were over. Next, the teacher took out the word “run” with the first letter underlined. She had the students read the word.
