...y family, and a place to live. The Depression may have caused many people not to fulfill their “American Dream”, but it changed the “American Dream” in many ways. The Depression caused many people to think that their lives would never amount to anything. This caused a change in the opinion, once the Depression was over, of what the “American Dream” was. People who once were trying to be rich and famous were now just trying to survive. People who grew up during the Depression raised their families with fear of failure. Their goal was to have a good paying job, a family that was healthy, and a place they could call home.
