However, the impetus to the dramatic popularity of globalization has been the evolution of the Internet. The Internet, as well as technological advancements in web-based software applications, has paved the way for companies to reach customers in different parts of the world. The Internet has not only become a way of life for many individuals, but it has become a necessity for organizations competing on the informational superhighway. Nevertheless, there are numerous companies that are having difficulty finding their niche on the Internet. ... Organizations are finding it hard to develop and implement their e-commerce operations; therefore, the Internet has become an excellent marketing tool without little return on investment. Objective The objective of this paper is to summarize General Mills’ use of the Internet. I will discuss how the Internet is leveraged internally by employees; and externally, by our customers and suppliers for our products and services. I will also make recommendations as to how the Internet could provide further business benefits to General Mills.
