Overview:
Microsoft Front Page 2002 is a Web Authoring, Design, Publishing Tool and Web Site Management Tool. Microsoft advertises Front Page 2002 as a comprehensive all in one web tool that “enables powerful creation, precise and flexible web site management, and the ability for web experts to import, edit, and format HTML they way they want.” Front Page 2002 has the same look and feel as other Microsoft Office products.
In reality Microsoft Front Page is love and hate affair. ... Microsoft Front Page has tons of templates and wizards that allow one to create a website with out writing a word of code. Front Page will create a professional looking website with the use of customizable themes and lists. ... Front Page also allows one to add dynamic content with links to Microsoft MSN®, MSNBC, Expedia and bCentral™.
However when it comes time to update the site it is very difficult to decipher the “cryptic” code that Front Page created behind the wizard and template tools. ... Front Page has its own language that is hard to understand even for a web professional. The webpage must be put on a server that supports Front Page server extensions and it is recommended that it be published from within Front Page rather than via FTP.
Front Page 2002 is the fourth attempt by Microsoft to create a fully functional web tool.
