According to Webster, betrayal is, “to lead astray.” Also from that reliable source where in is the definition of love, “strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties.” In these two precise definitions, we can draw forth for our purposes that betrayal of love is to lead astray someone who is or was loved. Betrayal of love is portrayed many times in the four-act play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The first betrayal of love is perceived is where Lysander leaves Hermia in the woods.
