Whats in a Name?
"Whats in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet".
These famous words from Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet seem to say that a name isnt very important, it is the thing that the name represents which matters. The object the name was describing would still be the same even with a different name.
However, in West Side Story, a modern version of Romeo and Juliet, Tony sings the song "Maria" and in that song he says that the name Maria is the most beautiful sound hes ever heard, which seems to contradict Shakespeares words completely.
