This method consists of six steps; 1) Question: this is a written statement expressing the case being investigated, 2) Hypothesis: although forensic geologist have to come up with possibilities, they tend to allow the evidence to tell the story, 3) Materials: this is a list of all the materials used including any instruments needed to complete the investigation, 4) Procedure: this is a detailed step by step recall of the steps taken during the investigation, 5) Observations: this is recorded evidence used to help either the prosecutors or defense with the case, and 6) Conclusion: this is the end of the investigation where it has been solved.
