These raw materials are sold to us from countries in the Global South and in return we are able to sell a finished product on the market. In recent decades, we have changed our view on the process of consuming as much raw material as possible from the developing nations of the Global South. This is because of the concept of sustainable development, which was defined by the World Commission on Environment, and Development as, that which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. ... Sustainable development has resulted in a new cooperation between the Global North and South. ... The planetary bargain for sustainability between the Global North and Global South would have to aim to include the many outlined aspects of sustainable development. The first part of this planetary bargain for sustainability between the Global North and South would deal with the situation of pollution that would result from increased industrial production. ... From here, it must be mandated that the countries in the Global North and South follow the exact same processes, with the goal of having as little adverse effect on the environment as possible.
