Little Helen’s Sunday afternoon is an interesting short piece of writing, as the mood of the story shifts suddenly from past to current experiences, in well detailed descriptions of the feelings and surroundings that the characters are experiencing. This short piece of prose also has an appealing aspect, as the reader is unaware of some incidents that occur during the story which are never revealed. This leaves the reader guessing, with imagined possibilities to incidents that could have occurred which were never made known. Little Helen’s Sunday afternoon was of interest to me as I found I was able to imagine clearly the setting the character was in, The detailed prescription that was given allowed the reader to feel as if they were in the story themselves.
