In fact, Japan has been strongly influenced by the Western Civilizations since the nineteenth century. In this paper I am going to share with you the history of Japanese music, mainly focusing on when it was introduced to Japan and the Traditional style of Japanese music. From this paper, you will also see how other countries strongly influenced their style of music.
Traditional Japanese music, a term applied to the varieties of music in Japan in pre-modern times, dates back to the year four hundred and fifty-three, when eighty musicians were imported into Japan from a Korean kingdom to perform in an imperial funeral. Although they have records of this event occurring, the history of Japanese music traditionally begins in the years seven hundred and ten through seven hundred and ninety-four, also known as the Nara period.
