Hume and Past Experience
... Philo also states repeated experience will reveal the relation of cause and effect. I too feel one can only gain knowledge through experience and learning; however, I do not think our experiences can concretely ascertain a cause-effect relationship. All of us learn from past experiences and it is this past knowledge we apply to today; can we be certain knowledge gained from past experiences will hold true in the future? Rather, is it certain that the same truths from the past will be applicable in the future?
