“As controversial as the lives they led,” Nick Broomfield has directed and produced a documentary that explores, the dubious untouched circumstances of “grunge god” Kurt Cobain’s death, and “bizarre” relationship with wife Courtney Love.
Broomfield the director of Kurt and Courtney encourages the audience to accept a particular version of information, where an entirely different light is shone upon famous rock star Courtney Love. Using his renowned, intrusive style of filming together with selection of detail and organization of material Broomfield has depicted Courtney’s violent and abusive nature by emphasizing negatively on her brawls and threats towards journalists and others. In doing so Broomfield, pays tribute to famous “grunge god,” Kurt Cobain and explains some of the suspicious, controversial, alternates to his well publicised “suicide.”
Nick Broomfield’s way of interviewing people over his documentary career is seen to be very “hands on,” the kind of “in your face,” approach. ... When interviewed by Broomfield style, if an incorrect response is given then he will take advantage of the response and step up to a more personal level, at which sate the person can be seen to be acting the following way; giving the audience a clear image of what kind of character he is dealing with.
