The course concept used to analyse the Editorial published in The Press, Christchurch: Oct 23, 1998, pg.4 entitled “The sickness label” is ethnocentrism, which includes Western societies views on obesity and impotence and the bias attitude in which the editorial is written. Another course concept used to analyse the editorial is health and illness, which will involve a main key aspect of people thinking they are clinically ill when it is only a human condition. Also the sociological imagination ‘building blocks’ model will be used to analyse the editorial. ... They will continue to label common human conditions as illnesses and the drugs will continue in demand. ... Thirdly, in the sociological imagination ‘building blocks’ model the historical aspect can be used to analyse this editorial. ... In conclusion, ethnocentrism was a course concept used to analyse the article by showing the western society’s negative view on common human conditions such as obesity, impotence and shyness, and also the one sided outlook of the editorial.
