border patrol

Immigration means; the entrance of a person into a new country for the purpose of establishing a permanent residence. Between 1820 and 1930 the U.S. received 60% of the world’s immigrants.** There have been two major waves of immigration in the last 200 years. From 1820 to 1900 immigration increased from 100,000 to 9,000,000, and from 1930 to 1980 immigration increased from 500,000 to 10,000,000.****** Our country was founded on the basis that all men are created equal. Therefore they should all have the right to come and go whenever/wherever they please. In the laws of our country that is one of the basic human rights. However borders are to thank for the shape of today’s world. I hate to question the Constitution, but if “freedom of movement” is a basic human right why do we have borders? There are two ways to look at immigration; it’s either allowed or it isn’t. Obviously we can’t tell somebody that they “can’t come in,” but should we give them asylum? Why should we if we’re angry with Afghanistan for harboring the Taliban? It is the same argument as racism. The problem shouldn’t exist and yet it does. You cannot exclude someone because of his or her color, culture, sex, or country of origin. The only way immigration restriction should be allowed is if it is only used to restrict people carrying contagious diseases, or are caught trying to import illegal items.
