God s Promise

... The first was God’s struggle to regain control of fertility among mankind. The second struggle was Abraham’s lack of faith that God’s promise would be fulfilled. In the opening chapter of this narrative in Genesis12: 1-4 reads:
Now the Lord said to Abram,
“Go from your country and
your kindred and your father’s house to
the land that I will show you. ... ”

God has promised to make Abram the father of a great nation or lineage. God has singled out one person and has the control of his chances of fertility. In the stories of creation, God gave Adam and Eve control of their fertility, telling them to be “fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it”.
