Conclusion 10 Biography of Saddam Hussein He was born on 28 April 1937 to what was described as a poor, landless peasant family near the town of Tikrit, on the Tigris River. His father, Hussein al-Majid, either died about the time Saddam was born or deserted his wife and children. His mother, Subha, married Ibrahim Hassan, with whom the boy’s relationship was marked by mutual dislike. His was a prototypical-troubled childhood, but any animosities do not appear to have carried over from his youth. The Iraqi regime is a family business, with key positions of power held by members of the Hussein, Hassan and al-Majid clans and their allies — the "Tikrit Mafia." Saddam did not start school until 1947, at age ten, when he went to live with a maternal uncle in Baghdad. The uncle, Kayrallah Tulfah, would later become mayor of Baghdad. He was a greedy, profoundly ignorant and xenophobic man. He had a few years previously been cashiered from the Iraqi army for participating in an attempted pro-Nazi coup attempt. This had been put down by the British, leaving him with an abiding hatred for “Imperialism” and other forms of interference with his violent instincts. He had a significant influence on the emotional and attitudinal development of his young charge. Finishing middle school, Saddam was denied admission to the prestigious Baghdad Military Academy because his grades weren’t good enough and probably because he had not finished high school. In 1956 he participated in an abortive coup against the monarchy in Baghdad. It leads him to join in 1957 the Ba'th party at the age of 20, Ba’th membership consisted of about 300 people in those days, and many of them were his relatives. In 1959 Saddam was involved in the attempted overthrow of Abdul Karim Qasim, (Prime Minister of Iraq after the 1958 revolution). After attempting he fled to Egypt, where he spends the next four years and completes high school. In Egypt, he was arrested on at least two occasions from altercations with fellow students regarding political differences. After the revolution in 1963, Hussein returned to Iraq. During this period he married his cousin Sajida. They later had two sons and three daughters. Saddam escaped from prison in 1967, resuming leadership in the Party. In 1968 he helped to overthrow the government. Later that year, he graduated from the Cairo College of Law. Showing ruthless determination that was to become a hallmark of his leadership, Saddam Hussein gained a position on the ruling Revolutionary Command Council. For years he was the power behind the ailing figure of the president, Ahmed Hassan Bakr. In 1979, he achieved his ambition of becoming head of state. The new president started as he intended to go on - putting to death dozens of his rivals. He controls Iraq for 24 years until Gorge Bush Small in the face of United States of America didn’t decide to overthrow the Iraqian dictator. However one of the purposes was to catch the Saddam and give him under the tribunal but this mission becomes impossible to United States of America probably because of the strong and powerful profile of Saddam Hussein. Saddam Hussein’s Leadership style Saddam Hussein Undoubtedly has Authoritative leadership style with Coercive power, which can be described by the following forms: · Demands immediate compliance that can be expressed in words “do what I tell you” Many politicians confirm that nothing is saint for Saddam Hussein. Human life is nothing for him absolutely. Moral values of the Iraqi dictator are changed depending on his own interests. He always does that he considers beneficial to himself. For example several reports link Saddam to the murders of a schoolteacher or a cousin during his early years because of some disobedience. There are not only devoted to him people among his victims but his relatives too. Hussein is pitiless very much when the deal concerns the conservations of his own authorities. · Underlying emotional intelligence competencies he Drive to achieve The Delusion of grandeur reveals itself beside Saddam not only in haughtiness, but also in the most deep faith in uniqueness. One time he compared himself with Fat-ed-Dinom - a founder of Ayuobidov dynasties, which fought with Mussulmans against crusaders. As it is well known, the great warrior of the Middle Ages was born in that small town Tikrit as Hussein. He became the ruler of Egypt, Syria and Mesopotamia at the age of 43 - and at this age Hussein came to the authorities in Iraq. Hussein has made the scheme to proclaim Iraq as Islamic state, Baghdad as the capital of the caliphate, and himself as an emir of all orthodox.
