THESIS: OUR ALLEGIANCE TO VOTE
WHAT VALUE DOES OUR YOUTH PLACE ON THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE, AND HOW IMPORTANT IS THAT VOTE
Never has exercising our right to vote been more important than it has in the last several days. When looking at the results of our recent presidential election, we should all realize that even our one vote could make a difference. ... Too many of our youth today are not taking their responsibilities seriously enough, and are not taking the time to vote. ... Are you registered to vote? ... If you are registered do you vote in all the elections? ... If you are registered why did you feel it was important for you to register to vote? ... Do you have any suggestions as to how you, or others could make a difference in the number of youth that register to vote? ... Even though I was aware of the statistics as to the percentage of youth registered to vote, I had always felt that these numbers did not involve anyone that I knew. ... The results of my questionnaire were as follows:
People polled: Twenty-six
Number registered to vote: Nine
I learned many things from my poll. ... I did learn that the majority of these friends who were registered did actually vote, and were very conscientious about it. ... Their excuses varied from I havent had time, to there is really no one that I want to vote for, to my parents dont vote, to the excuse that they would have to drive two hours home to vote, and also they would have to miss class.
