In my family, we always eat breakfast together on New Year’s Day to talk about what we could do better for our. We usually spend the day together to have “quality time” with each other. That usually never happens. This day was dull to me in the past because no matter what anyone said or did, it always resulted into a fierce argument. My family is very opinionated and we are very different from each other. This New Year, something was different. There was charisma in the air, and it was contagious. After New Year’s Day of 2004, I knew that was the best day for our family as a whole. I woke up to the warm sun gleaming on my face at eight o’clock in the morning. As I walked down the stairs, the floorboards made noises like a rusty door. My mother yelled, “He’s finally awake!” Everyone else was awake and helping in the kitchen as if it was the breakfast hour at a local diner.
