GLOBALIZATION Globalization has become one of the biggest issues in the economic world today. Many people believe globalization is a good thing, and there are also many people who think it is bad. ... Even though there are these noticeable advantages of free trade, there are still people who believe globalization is a bad thing. Globalization is the growing integration of economies and societies around the world (internationally). Rapid growth and poverty reduction in China, India, and other countries (mostly third world countries) that were poor 20 years ago, has been a positive aspect of globalization. Globalization has also generated international opposition over concerns that it has increased inequality and environmental degradation. The positives aspects of globalization are: § Increased global competition will create pressures on suppliers to keep prices low on goods and services. ... The negatives effects of globalization are: § It causes corporations in developed countries to either downsize or move to nations where wages are lower and profits can be maximized. ... The elements of globalization are free trade, open borders, improved communication, and improved transportation. ... By improving communication technology, globalization essentially makes the world smaller. ... There are three important institutions who are in favour of globalization. Their role is to encourage and set rules and standards for globalization. ... (UNCTAD 1997) As globalization has progressed, living conditions have decreased significantly in almost all countries. ... However, this is not due because of globalization. ... That is the best solution so that everybody in the world could see and benefit from globalization.
