Although the weaknesses of Kant’s theory seem to far out weigh the strengths there are a few strong strengths to his ideas from which people can learn from. One of these strengths is the idea that motivation should be valued over consequences or they should at least have a strong value. This is an idea that is largely unused in other such theories but has a very good point, for example if somebody such as mother Teresa went to feed the starving but one child was allergic to the food she handed out and died should she be considered an evil child murderer? I don’t think anybody would say that she should be, but under some other trains of thought she would be as the consequence of the child dieing would be the only thing that matters not the motive of saving the child and the fact that so many other people were saved because of her actions or her being an undoubted good person wouldn’t matter.
