1. According to Machiavelli a miserly king is the king that won't be overthrown or underestimated. He said that a king with virtues is simply too innocent and naive which would ultimately lead to his ruin. On the other hand a miserly king of whom has vices will always be aware that the world is like him in his crookedness and will always be alert to what is going on. He also states that it is necessary to be miserly because one can not please every person. A miserly man only cares of the majority not the minority making the king stable and secure in his position while pleasing the majority. 2. Why should a prince not be concerned if he has a reputation for cruelty? Machiavelli states that a king that instills fear in his people will keep them longer than that of a king who instills love within his kingdom. Machiavelli believes humans are crooked and would break a promise or a note of love in an instant when they feel endangered, but a man with fear can not break free of fear.
