Did you know that every three seconds, someone is in desperate need of
blood? ... We all need blood to survive, but for these people and
many others, a shortage of donated blood means the difference between life
and death.
There is no substitute for blood and our community needs it badly. Blood
donors are the only source of blood for these sick people. "Currently only
5% of those eligible to do so actually donate blood although as many as 85%
of the adult population is eligible tod o so. Why, if the need for our
blood to help others is so great, do we flinch away from giving?
An adequate supply of blood is crucial for our hospitals and operating

bodies in a matter of hours automatically replace the blood they gave. ... Some medical research shows that in fact, giving blood may well even
be good for your health.
