Creating the Myth
In the hero myth, the hero is introduced as a simple, ordinary person. Later, a catalyst is introduced—a problem that demands a solution—that sets the story in motion. Although initially he may be reluctant, some kind of personal motivation typically develops that readies our hero for the adventure. Along the way, he will usually receive help from others who often have special knowledge, information, or skills. Once he meets the tests and obstacles necessary to accomplish his goals he may confront some seemingly impossible hurdle, and it’s at this point that the action moves toward the exciting conclusion and our hero completes the journey.
