In “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, men have a very negative look at the only woman in the book. ... None of that matters to the men on the ranch. The men in the story dont look down on Curly for not being a good husband, instead they say he picked the wrong kind of women. ... The men on the ranch have there own unique qualities and personalities, why cant the women. All these men are afraid of Curly’s wife and what she is capable of doing. ... Half of the men rarely see females and the ones they see are when they go into town to a “whore-house”. This shows the men’s stereotypical view on women as that of a “whore”. ... Steinbeck made all the men in the story say and think that she needed to be in the house where she belonged and not trying to cause trouble. “…When a seductive woman intrudes her way into the agrarian dream of Lennie and George in Of Mice and Men -- tragedy and misfortune result” (Heiney 56). ... All the other men are outside playing horse shoes and there is no one to stop her from talking. ... All through the novel the men make out that Curley’s wife is trouble. ... She triggered a mass of emotions between the men and the conflict of killing Lennie.
