Adam Erickson College Comp. Rhetorical Critique February 6, 2004 In David Walker’s An Appeal to the Coloured Citizens of the World, he asks for black Americans to rise above (violently if necessary.) He severely criticizes proslavery Christians and denounced American society essentially. To go against what America stood for. He is saying that he had been and seen many places and things and colored people of America were the most degraded and wretched. He prays to God that colored people will need to live through this until this degrading is over. Israelites, Helotes, and Roman slaves were treated badly, but nothing compared to the way the blacks are.
