GREAT GRANDMOTHER
My great grandmother was a very independent woman. She lost her husband twenty years prior to her death, which I believe helped her to become the woman she was. After her husband died one of her daughters, Barbara moved in with her to help her out. Grandma didn’t want the help and I don’t think she really needed the help, the only thing she didn’t do was drive. And I think that is one of the reasons Barbara used to get her to let her move in. There was many things grandma loved to do, one of her favorite was camping at Bear Lake. Almost every weekend of every summer our whole family would go up there. She would cook all of us a big dinner during the weekend, and she would also chop all of the wood for the weekend. All of the guys in our family would tell her not to, and she always replied if I relied on a man for stuff it would never get done or else it wouldn’t get done right. If your parents ever told you no, you couldn’t do something while you were there and she heard, she would tell you to go ahead and do it. Then tell your parents “it’s no use being a kid if you can’t have any fun.” At the end of the weekend every weekend my sister and I would always beg our parents to let us go home with grandma, but they never gave into us and let us.
