After reading the fifth chapter of the book, I have come to realize the importance of the Vatican councils created by the leaders of our church. This Vatican council led us to understand the certain changes in how church sacraments are now practiced and why are we using the vernacular languages for the Mass. Various interpretations of the council documents also brought less visible but fundamental changes in how the Catholic churches saw itself and its relationship with other faiths and the world. I came to realize that this council has made a large difference in our church today. Vatican II has altered the Roman Catholic Church more that any other council that took place. In addition, it has made a great significance as it made the church more sensible and realistic.
