Historical Perspectives on Adolescence Over the years you think Wow! How did I get so old? Well I have just the person to tell us the difference between his childhood and our childhood/ generation. There was a series of questions I asked Dennis Burns about his child hood and I came out with. Dennis Burns is now 65 and went to high school and he loved it, he had tons of homework but it was different he had lots of reading and book reports throughout high school and they also had know electives. Next I asked him about his work status Dennis worked 20 hours on average a week, doing dishes working at the AMW, and during the winter he would get a lot of shoveling jobs and paper routes. He never had to contribute to the family Income. And Dennis said he loved going to work and that it was fun, it kept him busy.
