Last year in high school, I had many goals that I wanted to accomplish throughout the year. To name a few: get into a good college, graduate with honors, and get recognized with an academic letter in basketball to be like my idol Michael Jordan. Well, I accomplished two of the three. The last goal, sadly, wasn’t completed. Now, I have played basketball for most of my life and my senior year was going to be my best, which is until I messed my knee up and I couldn’t play basketball for the rest of the season. So the dream of becoming like Michael Jordan wasn’t going to happen just yet. However, I wasn’t going to give up, I was going to fight for what I wanted just like Michael did when he was injured! After weeks of training and therapy, I was back on the court and got my academic letter, but not the recognition like Mikey had! A professional athlete is an ideal role model for the values of the American people because of their achievements, inspirational stories, and how they don’t take things in life for granted. Every athlete has made many outstanding achievements. It makes you look at them and say wow I want to do that too.
