There were distinct similarities and differences between The Colonial and The Young Republic ways of life. The Young Republic was wealthier than Colonial times. Before the Revolutionary War there were no heroes or leaders to recognize. So sculptures and flags weren’t in mass production until The Young Republic times. The architecture of The Colonial Times had very little detail and decoration. The shelters ranged from cottages, half timber, and all wood houses. The craftsmen weren’t very educated yet. On the other hand in The Young took place around the time of war. The houses modeled houses of other histories, like Roman and Greek. Houses at first had Pillars, sweeping staircases and were very formal. Later houses were plainer, but had more wealth involved. The interior of The Colonial was based upon keeping space and heat in the house. The houses had low ceilings and were for all purpose use. The rooms had a large fireplace and furniture to keep cold air out.
