Fidel Castro Fidel Castro was born on Aug. 13, 1926. In 1945 he enrolled at the University of Havana, graduating in 1950 with a law degree. Mirta Diaz-Balart was his wife. They got married in 1948 and divorced in 1954. Fidel Castro was a Cuban revolutionary leader. He was also the prime minister of Cuba. He was involved in historical events such as the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Space Exploration Space exploration was becoming very popular after World War Two. There was something called the space race. It was where many countries started a race to get a something into space. The Russians were the ones that won that race. Afterwards, there was a race to get a man on the moon.
