The names of various styles and types of music culturally associated with Trinidad and Tobago is steelpan, calypso, soca, chutney, rapso, and a few others. The music of this Caribbean islands is the country known for many of types of music. It was the first to come up the steelpan, which opened doors to other new types of music. Before I begin to tell you about their music, long ago in the islands there was two ethnic groups. ... Yet because there was different ethnic groups, there wasn’t different ethnic music. They dance by the movement of feet, hands and especially of the waist, this goes for all the music types in Trinidad and Tobago.
Steelpan which is also known as parang, and pan music is considered to be traditional Trinidadian musical instrument. ... This type of music sounds exactly like something is hitting a pan, yet more musical and relaxing. This type of music you can dance to, because in the past when it was first introduced they played the steelpans and danced to it during carnival time. ... My parent don’t actually listen to this type of music, they mostly watch it on TV, and listen to it from there.
