Adobe Premiere 6.5 Settings: Upon entering the program, you will be prompted to select the desired settings. This also occurs if you open a New Project. (see Diag 1.1 Select either: DV-Pal Standard 48KHz or DV-PAL Standard 48KHz with Real Time Preview. Next click on Custom & subsequently Next: General ¡V check that Timebase is 25, Time Display is 25 fps Timecode Video ¡V Compressor change to DivX, Frame size 512 by 480, Frame rate 25. Audio ¡V usually it is correct, so nothing needs to be changed. Keyframe and Rendering -- usually it is correct, so nothing needs to be changed. Capture ¡V only important if you are capturing Click Ok. *P.S. Don¡¦t worry u can change these settings later under Project „³ Project Settings Navigation U should see 6 windows (Diag 2): *Warning! The following sections should only be read after you have a database of raw video clips in your com, or after u have read the section on Capturing. Project: This is the where you import your video, audio and graphic files to. U can classify them into Bins. Never cross off this popup as it is equivalent of closing your project. Importing ¡V 3 options „Ï File „³ Import „³ File (for importing files) „Ï File „³ Import „³ Folder (for importing folder) „Ï File „³ Import „³ Project (for importing another Premiere project) *Convert all Macromedia Flash to .avi or animated gif (for simpler animations). Monitor: (Diag. 3) Depending on your preference, u can have a dual screen monitor or a single screen monitor (can change via the icons above the screens) Source screen is where u view your individual raw imported files. Target screen is where u view your own edited masterpiece! To select a particular segment from a raw clip, drag the file from the bin into the source screen. Mark in at the start of your desired segment, mark out where u want to stop. Drag the clip from the source screen into the timeline. Ta-da; u got the segment u wanted. Timeline: (Works like Macromedia Flash) U can put clips in by: „Ï Drag clips from project¡¦s library to timeline „Ï Dragging from source screen (as explained above) There are 2 forms of tracks: „Ï Video Tracks ¡V for AVI, MPG, etc video clip and image files like JPG, PSD, GIF, BIP „Ï Audio Track ¡V for WAV, MP3 etc Note: U can adjust the length of the graphic clips length by dragging their end points. To keep them in proportion, right click the clip; go to Video Options „³ Maintain Aspect Ratio. After you have toggle Maintain Aspect Ratio, an additional link, Fill Aspect Colour, will appear upon right click. Video 1A & Video 1B are special Transition Track for applying Transition effects. No Video or Transparency effects can be applied here. Video 2 and above are single track editing for Video effects. No Transition effects can be applied here. Usually a raw video clip comes with both video and audio components, so both tracks will be occupied if u simply drag the clip from the Bin.
