"I had nearly forgotten to come but when I could not see her there I was feeling lonely and hollow." The war just seemed to be another obstacle for their love to overcome. A Farewell to Arms keeps bringing us back to the war and showing us how much everyone disliked it. Henry tried to get jaundice He also wrote about soldiers hurting themselves to get out of battle. Most of the opinions and descriptions about the war are against it. Ernest Hemingway expressed his negative opinion of war disrupting peaceful places and lives.
