Technology in the Classroom: Friend or Foe?
I believe that education in the 21st century must include technology in order to provide students with necessary skills to be successful in any type of career. I also believe that technology can be used as a classroom tool just as the overhead projector and video camera are. However, I do believe that due to the fact that technology is used to make life easier, it has a tendency to make people lazier. Therefore, technology should be employed in the classroom, but it should not be the sole means of providing instruction because if and when the computer system crashes, students and teachers need to be able to carry on with their daily lives and tasks, and total dependence on technology will not allow that to happen. So it is while it is imperative that technology be implemented in today’s classroom, it should be learning and teaching aide, not the focus of the classroom.
