Stokely Carmichael’s parents, Adophus, a carpenter, and Mable, a stewardess for a steamship line, came to the USA when Carmichael was a toddler. Since Stokely did not come with, he stayed with his grandmother. Stokely Carmichael reunited with his parents when he was 11 in the Bronx, New York.
