The Islamic religion: Protecting or oppressing women?
Many people feel that Islam is a very harsh and cruel religion with most of its violence aimed at women. As it turns out Islam was one of the first religions to grant equal rights to men and women. Most “Islamic” countries however do not follow the Islamic holy book, or Qur’an, properly. This is why many Westerners have the misconception that Islam is a one-sided, sexist religion that only benefits males. Another common misconception is that all Islamic followers, or Muslims, are Middle Easterners. ...

Fortunately for Muslim women, over 1400 years ago Allah granted them the right to vote . Women in America have only been voting for 85 years now. Today many Muslim women even hold public office, depending on the country.
