Antigone Essay Creon is the Tragic Character

Greek stories mostly revolve around tragic characters. In the play of Antigone, one could say that Antigone is the tragic character because of the curse on her family and her catastrophic suicide at the end of the play. But other quotes and examples in this play will lead one to believe that Creon is the real tragic character because of his never ending affliction. Creon is alive at the end of Antigone and so he has to live with his hapless choices that he made and must learn to live with them until he dies. A tragic character has flaws and end in extreme heartbreak and that is the story of Creon. Though Creon has many tragic flaws that lead to his destruction, he has one main flaw; Creon is blind.
