It's just too easy to carry on the way we always have - even if our health may be at risk. Is there some magic formula that makes it easy to be healthy and active? No, but there are some tried and true techniques that work for millions. There are many different lifestyle behaviors that people choose to partake in, there are also ways to help these people over come them. Many people love drinking, eating what they want, not exercising, smoking, and even doing drugs. A person’s lifestyle is his/her own choice, if they want to improve it; it has to come from within. To improve health in the community, you must understand the factors that cause preventable death and disability and know which of those factors is most responsive to change. An individual's lifestyle or health-related behaviors; emotional health; the surrounding environment; the health care system; and genetic factors, all influence whether a person will have a major health problem. Lifestyle and health-related behaviors is the leading contributor to illness and premature death in our community. (Prime for Life) Lack of access to health care, especially preventive care such as cancer screening, prenatal care, and hypertension control, also contributes significantly to sickness and preventable death.
