Odysseus from “The Odyssey” was a brave man who was dedicated to obtaining his one
goal: getting back home. Many could say that Odysseus was a great hero who was respected and
read about even today. ...
And with the help of the Goddess Athena, Odysseus is never alone through his journey. If
Odysseus would be considered an archetypal hero, I would strongly agree. Being an archetypal
hero, Odysseus has to have three traits that hold considerable importance. If I could describe
Odysseus, I would say he was intelligent, brave, and dedicated.
There are many times in ‘The Odyssey” when Odysseus shows his great intelligence and
cunning. ... The first time Odysseus’ intelligence really shines is at
the battle of Troy when he came up with the idea to build a giant wooden horse to offer as a gift
to the Trojans. ... This was all Odysseus’ idea. ... Another trouble that Odysseus got out of
because of his intelligence was when he landed on the cyclops island.
