Less than 38 years ago, interracial marriage was thought to be sinful and wrong. ... The article “Gay Marriage is not only wrong; it’s socially destructive,” written by Robert Knight, reminds me about the prejudice groups of people who were against interracial marriage, women rights, and freedom for slaves many years ago. ... Knight puts forward in his article are sometimes false and not sufficient enough to prove his argument against gay marriage. ... Knight, director of the Culture & Family Institute, an affiliate of Concerned Women for America, is arguing against legalizing gay marriage in US. He started his argument by stating that HIV and other sexual transmitted diseases rare increasing in greater percent among the homosexual in Holland, now that gay marriage is legalized. ... Knight has against gay marriage is that it would increase domestic violence because homosexual households have higher rate of domestic violence than heterosexual households. He also states that gay marriage will “put more children at risk as adoption agencies abandon the current practice of favoring married households and begin placing more children in motherless or fatherless households” (Knight). His last invalid argument against legalizing gay marriage is it would encourage more people to remain homosexual. ... Knight’s article, AIDS and other sexually transmitted disease reports in Holland is much higher after gay marriage was legalized, that is why gay marriage should not be legalized in US. Although the incident happened in Holland would be very hard to argue, Knight’s analysis of these facts is inaccurate. AIDS and HIV may be increasing within the homosexual community; however, Knight fails to point out that the HIV virus has plagued society as a whole.
