heroism

things are going hard in school and i want to do good on this essayEveryone has had at least one best friend in their lives. There is a journey to get to that point of friendships. This journey begins with one’s departure from another. “The departure begins with the call to adventure” (Smith). Prior to this call the hero exists in everyday awareness, living life in usual, familiar pattern. With the call, the person or loved one is shaken from the realm of his or her loved one. The adventure is composed of trials and errors with his or her interaction with others in their new lifestyle. “Along this journey the hero is transformed from naïveté and innocence to deep experience and enlightenment” (Smith). The return of this character or person will eventually come after he or she has lived the adventure they were looking for. A final battle will occur between these lovers and the only way it shall end is with one victorious and the other realizing he or she was wrong to start with. The little orange cat, Oliver, in Disney’s “Oliver and Company” goes through this exact transformation as a hero of friendship. In the beginning, Oliver is abandoned when all of his brothers are taken into good homes. This is considered Oliver’s call to adventure. There is no refusal to this call because of the fact that he cannot go back to his little box at the corner of the street.
